Candidate for Director, RDCK Electoral Area A

Why I’m Running

I have come forward as a candidate for the position of Director for Electoral Area A for a number of reasons. My priorities which are listed below are the core of what I care about and what I want to see done and changed within the RDCK. First of all, this is a wonderful place to live, but because of economic uncertainty, affordability, I don’t see my children being able to grow up and stay in this community. We need strong government that will work as a partner to the people and help to grow the economy here, give the ability back to people to build affordable homes, and allow people the freedom to live as they wish. The government needs to focus on the core services that it already provides rather than experimenting with new things. These are the things that residents of Area A have already told me, and I intend to listen to the people here and represent them well at the RDCK table.

Priorities

Affordability & Opportunity

With the cost of living constantly going up, our local government needs to focus on reducing barriers to affordability and growth, and needs to prioritize spending carefully so as not to burden the people.

Effective Core Services

The RDCK already provides a wide range of core services like fire protection, the Creston rec center, and waste management that are not being run effectively or well, our government needs to focus on what it is doing and do that well before expanding to things outside the current scope.

Practical Local Government

Our local government must be spending money wisely and also practically. Building and zoning need to be practical and simple, allowing people freedom to choose what they want to do with their own property.
